Aims and Scope
The Journal Concept: Philosophy, Religion, Culture is a peer-reviewed scientific journal for cultural studies of key aspects of philosophy, religion, arts, and cultural linguistics, focusing on intercultural communication problems. The Journal aims to become a venue for international academic dialogue on theoretical and empirical aspects of research in the field of culture and intercultural processes. We bring together inquiries from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds encompassing both social sciences and humanities. Founded by a team of scholars from a broad range of disciplines, the journal publishes articles related to innovative agendas and approaches likely to mold the future of cultural research. We seek to highlight non-Western cultural studies to balance the West-centred perspectives.
We pursue the following goals:
- To publish findings of original research on cultural diversity and modern aspects of intercultural relations. Studies of regional issues of both domestic and worldwide cultural importance are welcome.
- To set up an international multi-language network for an academic dialogue on cultural history and theory and the philosophy of culture. The journal is endorsed by the Russian International Studies Association (RISA) section of Intercultural Communications that regularly brings together leading Russian and international scholars and young international researchers working in the field.
- To promote intellectual contacts among scholars of culture with diverse political, cultural, and ideological backgrounds; to uphold free scholarly debate on issues critical to understanding or interpreting cultures; to encourage promising new methods of research in the field. Interdisciplinary projects, related to linguistics, art and applied aspects of intercultural communication are welcome.

Peer-Review
A double-blind peer review method is mandatory for the processing of all scientific manuscripts submitted to the editors of Concept: philosophy, religion, culture Journal. This implies that neither the reviewer is aware of the authorship of the manuscript, nor the author knows the identity of the reviewer.
Members of the editorial board and leading Russian and international experts in corresponding areas of life sciences, invited as independent readers, perform peer reviews. Editor-in-chief, deputy editor-in-chief or science editor choose readers for peer review. The anonymous referees are expected to provide their reviews within approximately six weeks, though in some cases the schedule may be adjusted at the reviewer’s request.
The reviewer has an option to abnegate the assessment should any conflict of interests arise that may affect perception or interpretation of the manuscript. Upon the scrutiny, the reviewer is expected to present the editorial board with one of the following recommendations:
- To accept the paper in its present state;
- To invite the author to revise their manuscript to address specific concerns before a final decision is reached;
- To advise that final decision should be reached following further reviewing by another specialist;
- To reject the manuscript outright.
If the reviewer has recommended any refinements, the editorial staff would suggest the author either to implement the corrections, or to dispute them reasonably. Authors are kindly required to limit their revision time to 2 months and resubmit the adapted manuscript within this period for final evaluation.
We politely request that the editor be notified verbally or in writing should the author decide to no longer publish the manuscript. In cases where the author fails to do so within 3 months since receiving a copy of the initial review, the editorial board will take the manuscript off the register and notify the author accordingly.
If the author and reviewers meet insoluble contradictions regarding revision of the manuscript, the editor-in-chief will resolve the conflict under their own authority.
If the editorial board reaches a decision to reject a manuscript on the hearing according to reviewers’ recommendations, and duly notifies the authors of their decision via e-mail it is final. The board does not accept previously rejected manuscripts for re-evaluation.
Upon the decision to accept the manuscript for publishing, the editorial staff notifies the authors of the scheduled date of publication.
Kindly note that positive review does not guarantee the acceptance, as final decision in all cases lies with the editorial board. By their own authority, the editor-in-chief rules final solution of every conflict.
Original reviews of submitted manuscripts remain deposited for 5 years.
